About the book

It began life as a birthday present for a loved one, but then we thought that others might be interested in the subject matter: the Aldine leaf, otherwise known as the single vine leaf, hedera or floral heart, which first appeared as a printer’s flower in the 16th century and became a stock ornament in printing offices.

This slender offering was hand-set  in Caslon, decorated with vine leaves; printed on Zerkall paper using our Golding Pearl and Peerless No. 1 treadle presses; then bound by Beverley with Washi endpapers in French wrappers.
